Misc. Notes
Came to the US through Ellis Island with his parents and 2 other children aboard the steamship S. S. Manchuria on September 4 1920, having sailed from Ponta Delgada, Azores on August 28. This is in the Ellis Island archives. They rode a train from there to New Bedford, MA.

Father's family moved to Thompson Ave. in Bristol, RI from New Bedford, MA, after the 1930 Census. Attended Guiteras School, but left when 14 to work. Worked in Civilian Conservation Corps, then a shoe factory in Warren, RI.
Worked at US Rubber in Bristol, starting in 1939 until he entered service in 1942.
Navy CB (welder) in 2nd WW stationed in Norfolk VA, Canada and New Guinea.
Branch 1: NAVY
Enlistment Date 1: 22 May 1942
Release Date 1: 15 Dec 1945
Returned to job at US Rubber which was bought out by Kaiser Aluminum.
Lived on Cottage St. in Bristol.
Bought house at 40 Fales Road in 1949.
Worked as a wire worker at Kaiser until he was injured and put on disability.

Based on 1940 US Census, showing that he and Marie L were married and living on Williams St. in Bristol and not with their parents, I have changed their wedding year from 1940 to 1939. Backing up this was the recollection by Lovina Pivin that her mother had told her that they had been married for seven years when she was born. July 1939 to January 1947, they had been married for seven years. Have not found any documentation of the wedding date to confirm this.
