Misc. Notes
Notes of Maurice Vallee 2/24/99:
I went to the Public Library (salle Gagnon) and I was able to trace the marriage act of Pierre Pivin and Marie Salvas on the microfilm of the parish register. The new name of the locality is Massueville (it's on the Yamaska river) but the parish's name is still Saint-Aimé. Pierre Pivin was from Sorel. The priest name was Lamothe.

Marriage record of Pierre PIVIN and Marie SALVAS
On this twenty-seventh of February, eighteen-hundred and forty-three, after the publication of three banns of marriage made with sermons in our parish masses, between Pierre Pivin, farmer domiciled in St Pierre de Sorel, adult son of Antoine Pivin and Geneviéve Bérard on the one hand; and Marie Salvas minor daughter of Louis Salvas, farmer and Marie Monteville also of this parish; and the same publication having been made in St-Pierre de Sorel, according to the certificate of Mr. Isidore Gravel, priest of the aforesaid parish. Without there being discovered any impediment to said marriage and considering the consent of the parents of the minor party, I, the undersigned priest, received their mutual consent of marriage and gave them the bridal blessing in the presence of [ eight words striped ]... Jean-Baptiste Peltier, of Jean-Baptiste O' Heir, Michel Lambert and Pierre Lambert, the only witness who knew how to sign; the others, as well as the husbands, did not know how to sign.
