The marriage record for Joseph PIVIN and Olivine FERRON
On this twenty-second of August, eighteen-hundred and seventy-six, considering the publication of the banns of marriage made with sermons of parish mass of St-Robert and of St-Aime, and exempted from two additional banns granted by Monsignor Moreau, Bishop of St-Hyacinthe, between Joseph Pivin living in St-Robert, adult son of Pierre Pivin, farmer and of Marie Salva of St-Robert on the one hand; and Olivine Ferron, living in this parish, a minor daughter of Benjamin Ferron, farmer and Félicité Ferron also of this parish; and considering that there is no known impediment to this marriage, I, the undersigned, vicar of this parish, have with the receipt of approval of the parents of the minor party and their mutual assent of marriage and having given the bridal blessing according to the rules presently prescribed by the Holy Church in the presence of Pierre Pivin, father of the groom, who did not know how to sign, of Maurice Pivin, brother of the groom, who did not know how to sign, of Benjamin Ferron, father of the bride, who did not know how to sign, of Joséphine Ferron, sister of the of the bride, signed. The husband and the wife stated they did not know how to sign; several parents and friends signed with us.

The Canadian Pivin family moved for a short time to Bristol, RI. From 1895 to 1900 they lived on Thames St. where most worked in the mill. They were back in Canada for the 1901 Canada Census. Joseph Jr. was to remain in Bristol and marry in 1901 and was naturalized in 1904.

Présents à l’inhumation les parents et amis soussigné avec nous. Lecture faite.
