1811 Census shows a 'Lawry' Kavanagh in Arichat as a Yeoman and Constable with a wife and one son, four daughters all under 14, 12 Cattle, 19 sheep and 1 horse.

Petition - 1803
Petition to Despard (Governor). Petitioner, about a year before, settled without permission at Rocky Bay, between Arichat and Descousse. He asks a title. A second petition, undated, stated that he has a stick of Cattle and sheep and asks a crown lease. A note on this petition states that the request has been complied with, Sept.1803.

Petition to Nepean: Petitioner has already received 100 acres at Rocky Bay, but as he is a farmer, not a fisherman, he asks that he might receive 200 acres additional land.

The connections back beyond this particular Lawrence Kavanagh are uncertain. His father’s name is unknown for now. There is likely a relationship to this Lawrence of St. Peter’s but it may be as a cousin.

If he is the son of Lawrence, he would have been born before 1778 and died in 1830. He would also have been a member of the legislative assembly and would have run the store at St. Peter’s and his wife’s name was Felicité LE JEUNE.
