LEBLANC - agglutination of 'the white', the nickname of an individual with very blond hair. Known variant: WHITE (English). 1) Daniel Leblanc was born around 1626 in France. He married Françoise Gaudet (27), widow of a man named Mercier, around 1650 in Port-Royal, Acadie (Nova Scotia). From their union were born 7 children. He settled on the north shore of the Port Royal River (now the Annapolis River). He is a labourer. He is also one of the 6 members of the Council, required by Phips, responsible for keeping the peace and dispensing justice. He died between 1695 and 1698 in Port-Royal. 2) Jacques Leblanc was born around 1644. He is from St-Pierre de Pont-L'Évêque, in Normandy. Son of Antoine Leblanc and Madeleine Boucher, he married Suzanne Rousselin, daughter of Philibert Rousselin and Hélène Martin, on June 6, 1666 in Montreal. From their union were born 9 children. In 1667, he was a servant with the Sulpicians and lived at Notre-Dame-des-Anges in Charlesbourg. Accused of having stolen 13 bushels of wheat, he was sentenced to 3 years in the galley, to be marked with the fleur-de-lys and to pay 84 pounds in compensation. In 1681, he lived in St-Claude de Charlesbourg and owned 1 cow and 8 acres of land. He died there on April 14, 1710. 3) Nicolas Leblanc-Labrie was born around 1637 in St-Pierre de Chennevières-sur-Marne, Val-de-Marne in France. Son of Nicolas and Perronnelle Chesnart, he contracted marriage before the notary Latouche with Marie-Madeleine Duteau, daughter of Pierre and Jeanne Perrin on November 2, 1664 in Trois-Rivières. From this union were born 7 children. In 1667, he lives in Cap-de-la-Madeleine and owns 2 horned animals and 17 arpents of land in value. In 1681, he owned 1 rifle, 5 horned animals and 25 acres of land in value We do not know the date of his death, but he died at the wedding of his daughter on January 7, 1704. 4) Jean-Jacques LeBlanc was born around 1723 in France. He married Marie Héon (22 years old), daughter of Charles Héon and Anne Clémenceau around 1752 in Fort Beauséjour, in Acadie. From their union were born 10 children. He was a merchant, notary, and guard of the store at Carillon or Fort Vaudreuil. He died on January 23, 1790 in Champlain, Quebec. His widow died on February 19, 1807 in Champlain.
