Jacob Byers is the earliest proven ancestor of this Byers family history.His father is said to have been a John Byers who emigrated from Germanyto an area in Lancaster Co.,Pa. which later, in 1785 became a part ofDauphin Co. ( Per a descendant, Daisy Heavilon, Jefferson, Indiana ).Although the early public records of these two counties disclose severalJohn Byers' none of them appear to be Jacob's father. The deed recordsfor Lancaster Co,. between 1729 and 1766, disclose four land transactionsinvolving John Byers' and the deed records for Dauphin Co., between 1785and 1821, disclose five. From internal evidence in those deeds none ofthese men appear to be Jacob's father. A search of the probate records ofthese tow counties was also fruitless.
