The following is a biographical sketch taken from the clipping file inthe Indiana Historical Society library, Indianapolis, Indiana. "EphraimByers, representative from Clinton County 1843-1844, and Tipton in1849-1850, was born in Perry County, Pennsylvania (originally CumberlandCo.) February 8, 1795. At the age of thirty-seven he moved to Indiana andin 1852 settled on a farm in Clinton county, where he resided for morethat twenty years. he was County Commissioner in 1846, 47 and 48. Inpolitics he was a Democrat, and in religion a Presbyterian. In 1854 hetook a journey through Kansas, Nebraska and Missouri with the purpose oflocating in the new territory, and had returned as far as Weston,Missouri when he was attacked with cholera, and died June 18, 1854. Hiswidow Catherine White Byers, a native of Pennsylvania, also survived himuntil December, 1872. Of the children, Joshua and Abner live atFrancesville, Indiana: Jacob and David at Winfield, Kansas: and Ellen,wife of R. J. Carter at Frankfort, Indiana."
