Christian Over served under Capt. Robert McKee from 1783 to 1788 under Col. Jacob Cook's Battalion during the Revolutionary War. Also serving from the Swatara and Conewago areas were Henry Bricker, Jacob Nissly, Jacob Shelly, Abraham Shelly, Daniel Shelly, Jacob Brucker, and Jacob Bricker to name a few. On April 1, 1815 according to the tax list of Donegal Township Christian Over owned 80 acres, 1 log two story house 36x28, 1 stone barn 46x30, a stone blacksmith shop, and a second log building. This property adjoined Samuel Hef and Henry Over. Christian Over also shared with his brother, Henry Over, 36 acres, 2 log two story houses: 34x30, 20x16, barn, stable, and shop. Christian Over died leaving four minor children. He appointed John Nissley guardian of the four. Upon John NissleyÕs death there were two minor children of Christian OverÕs to be cared for. Both were over the age of 14. Jacob Hoover was appointed guardian of the two older children who were not minors, Mary and Barbara. However, Barbara by this time was married to Mr. Hershey. The will of Christian Over of Derry Twp., Dauphin Co., Pa. was written on March 2, 1819, amended on Mar. 16, 1826, and was probated on May 6, 1828. He mentioned his wife, Maria Over and daughter, Esther Neisley. His daughter received his land in Derry Twp. while his granddaughter, Mary Landis who married Daniel Engle received the land in Peters Twp., Franklin Co., Pa. His grandson, David Landis received 1000 pounds. John Neisley received 1000 pounds. Executors: John Neisley (son-in-law); Daniel Engle (grandson-in-law). Witnesses: Peter Binchower; Andrew Alexander. The amendment to the will stated that Mary Engle died and left four children to whom John Neisley was to be named their guardian. Michael Shelly died intestate in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania in 1817 leaving two daughters: Mary Shelly married Christian Ober; Nancy Shelly married Isaac Wenger. A third daugher, Elizabeth Shelly (deceased) married Christian Hensha left the following children: Christian Hensha; Mary Hensha married Benjamin Long. Isaac and Nancy Wenger's children: Barbara Wenger married Abraham Gibbel; Anna Wenger married Christian Streit. There were other Wenger children no named since they died intestate without issue before Michael Shelly. The estate of Michael Shelly was divided between Mary Ober and Nancy Wenger. On Nov. 28, 1818, Isaac and Nancy Wenger gave their share of the estate to their children: Abraham Gibble; Christian Streit (Deed Book #15, p. 482. Lancaster Co., Pa.). Christian Ober and Christian Hensha made payments to Isaac Wenger and Christian Hensha, Sr. and their children and to the husband of the deceased daughter, Elizabeth.
