JEFFREY, Joseph Leo
94, of Louisdale, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, February 5, 2009. Born in Louisdale, he was the son of the late Charles and Eva (Samson) Jeffrey. Leo was a well-known Driver's Education Instructor for many years in Richmond and Inverness Counties. He worked as a carpenter in Halifax and surrounding areas for most of his life. He was an Associate Member of Branch No. 47, Royal Canadian Legion, St. Peter's. He was a loving father who did all that he could possibly do for his children. He will be sadly missed by daughters, Shirley Horton, Victoria, B.C.; Jean Lefebvre, Cornwall, Ont.; Annette Horton, Louisdale; sons, Roy (Bernice), Jerry (Patsy), both of Louisdale; sisters, Margaret Messervy, Kathleen Venedam, both of Louisdale; Josephine Joyce, St. Peter's; brothers, Arthur, Sackville; Albert, Louisdale; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Emma (Martell) Jeffrey; daughter, Barbara Staunton; son, Howard; five children in infancy; sisters, May, Beatrice, and Rita; brothers, Willard, Alfred, Norman, and Joseph. Visitation will be held this evening in the Glen Sampson Room, Louisdale, from 6-9 p.m., and on Saturday morning from 9-11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate the life of Leo will be held on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. in St. Louis Church, Louisdale, with Rev. Dwaine Devereaux officiating. Burial will take place in St. Louis Parish Cemetery at a later date. Donations can be made to St. Louis Parish Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Paul Pluta, and also to the Homecare Workers for the dedicated service given to Leo. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C.H.
