The first ancestor in Acadia was a navigator from Avranches, Normandy, France named Antoine la Vandiere, married about 1731 to Françoise Lavergne (born apr 2, 1703), at Port Royal, now Annapolis Royal, acadia. Françoise was the widow of Claude Petitpas, with four sons. After Mr. Lavandier's death she married Claude Clerget, with whom she had another son and four daughters. In all three marraiges she resided at Port Toulouse, Ile Royale (now St Peters, Cape Breton.) One son was born of la Vandiere-Lavergne union, Abraham Lavandier and a daughter, Marguerite who married François Bonin.
