12/2002 - Charles Samson email:
As Jeanne mentioned, there is no evidence documenting Toussaint's parentage. A few years ago, Alan Samson of Little Anse made a trip to St. Gatien des Bois, ancestral home of our Gabriel Samson. He looked through the church records, and made some assumptions, based on birth dates, death dates, etc. on a few Samsons. He PRESUMED that Toussaint was a son of Paul, who was son of Gatien, the son of Richard. This was only an hypothesis; there is NO DOCUMENTATION in the church records. He sent his Family Tree Maker file to the company, and it was included on one of the first of 2 cd's. I discovered this when I first purchased Family Tree Maker in 1997, and contacted Alan directly.

Recently, I received another e-mail from a
person who has Toussaint Samson's parents as Paul Samson and Guillette LeCardier.
As far as I am aware of, no parents have been found for Toussaint. Does
anyone on the listserve know otherwise?

Unfortunately, Toussaint's marriage record at St. Gatien-des-Bois, France,
does not name his parents. Someone hypothesized that Toussaint was a son of
Paul and Guillette LeCardier, and this is floating around online. If you have
any websites, please REMOVE this so that the miss-information does not continue
to spread.

I personally believe that Toussaint Samson's father MAY have been Paul (based
on Gabriel's baptismal record), but I have yet to find any concrete proof.
