Lelièvre, Françoise

Françoise Lelièvre was born about 1637 in Nancy, Lorraine, the daughter of Christophe Lelièvre and Georgette Clément. She came to New France in 1653.

On 18 August 1653, Françoise married Gabriel Gosselin in Sillery, though the act is recorded in the register of Notre-Dame de Québec. Neither spouse could sign the marriage contract drawn up 22 June by notary Godet. Gabriel was born about 1622 in Combray (canton of Thury-Harcourt, arrondissement and diocese of Bayeux), Normandy, the son of Nicolas Gosselin and Marguerite Dubral. He was confirmed 24 February 1660 at Québec City.

Gabriel and Francoise had nine children. Son Ignace was born about 1655, followed by Guillaume, baptized 07 October 1657 at Québec City. Michel was baptized at Québec City 17 June 1659, followed by François (14 February 1661), Gabriel (21 May 1662), François (08 June 1664) and Jean (07 February 1666, Château-Richer). The family can be found on the Île d'Orléans in the 1666 and 1667 censuses, but the parish of Sainte-Famille was not created until 1666. Geneviève was born on the Île d'Orléans and baptized at Québec City on 25 September 1667 and Françoise, also born on the Île d'Orléans, was baptized 13 August 1670 at Québec City.

Francoise Lelievre died on the Île d'Orléans some time before 28 September 1677. Notary Becquet drew up an inventory of the marriage community on 26 October 1677. On 04 October 1677, Gabriel married Louise Guillot (widow of Mathurin Renaud), with whom he had 2 children. Gabriel Gosselin was buried 07 July 1697 at Québec City.
