Fille du Roi for David
From Gagné:
Madeleine Tisserand was born about 1650 in the parish of Saint-Étienne in Liancourt (arrondissement of Clermont, diocese of Beauvais), Picardy, the daughter of Louis Tisserand and Louise Destré. After her mother”s death, she left for Canada in 1673 at about age 23, taking with her goods worth an estimated 200 livres for her dowry.
On 09 September 1673, notary Becquet drew up a marriage contract between Madeleine and Jean Amaury, but it was annulled (Jean married Fille du Roi Marie Vigny) and two days later notary Duquet drew up a contract between Madeleine and Pierre Parenteau dit Lafontaine, neither of whom could sign it. The two were married 12 September 1673 (the day after their contract was drawn up) in Québec City. Pierre was born about 1649 in Bauzauges (arrondissement of Saint-Jean-d'Angély, diocese of Saintes), Saintonge, the son of Jean Parenteau and Marguerite Fouestre. He and Madeleine settled at Saint-François-du-Lac. Daughter Marguerite was baptized at Sorel between 06 May and 13 September 1675, followed by Marie-Renée (29 April 1677), Jean-Baptiste (08 August 1679) and Marie-Jeanne (16 September 1680). Sadly, Jean-Baptiste and Marie-Jeanne died before the 1681 census, which finds the family still at Saint-François-du-Lac. Marie-Charlotte was baptized 16 November 1681 at Sorel, followed by François (bo about 1682) and Marie-Jeanne (06 May 1684). Marie-Madeleine was baptized 28 February 1686 at Sorel, followed by Charles (10 July 1687) and Pierre-Louis (12 January 1690, Saint-François-du-Lac).
Pierre Parenteau dit Lafontaine died at Saint-François-du-Lac some time after 12 January 1690. It is possible that he was killed by the Iroquois in August 1693, during a raid in which the Sieur Crevier was captured and a soldier and unidentified colonist were killed. He had certainly died by 17 July 1695, when notary Roger drew up a mariage contract between Madeleine and Jean Charpentier, neither of whom could sign it. The two were married 27 July 1695 in Québec City. Jean was born about 1660 in the parish of Sainte-Triaise in Poitiers, Poitou, the son of Pierre Charpentier and Madeleine Bouto. He and Madeleine lived at Saint-François-du-Lac, but had no children together. Madeleine Tisserand died 13 October 1705 and was buried the same day at Saint-François-du-Lac. On 09 October 1706, Jean married Catherine Laporte, with whom he had no children. Jean Charpentier died 04 April 1731 at Lavaltrie, where he had been living since 1730.
