Fille du Roi for David D8
Catherine De Lalore was born about 1654 in London, England, the daughter of Englishman Charles De Lalore (or Lawlor) and Catherine Després, a French woman. After her father’s death, Catherine came to Canada in 1671 at about age 17, bringing a dowry estimated at 300 livres.
On 17 October 1671, Catherine signed a marriage contract with Louis Lavallée, drawn up by notary Becquet, but it was annulled and later in 1671 or in 1672 Catherine married Louis Badaillac dit Laplante in Sorel and was given the King's Gift of 50 livres. Louis was born about 1644 in the diocese of Périgueux, Périgord, though his parents are unknown. He arrived in Canada on 18 June 1665 as a soldier with the Froment Company of the Carignan Regiment and was confirmed 20 May 1668 at Chambly.
Catherine and Louis settled at Sorel and had eight children. Marie- Catherine was baptized 22 June 1673 at Sorel, followed by Marie-Madeleine (8 July 1675), Anne-Élisabeth (24 October 1677) and Louis (04 April 1680). Louis later became an engagé Ouest from 27 May 1701 to 10 July 1703, traveling to Detroit. The family can be found in the 1681 census at Sorel, neighbors of fellow Fille du Roi Anne-Élisabeth de Tarragon and her family. Son Gilles was baptized there on 04 May 1682 (with Anne-Élisabeth de Tarragon as his godmother), followed by Thérèse (21 August 1685), Claire (born about 1687) and Catherine (04 July 1690).
Catherine De Lalore died between daughter Catherine's baptism on 04 July 1690 and 14 June 1694, when daughter Marie-Madeleine married Bernard Delomay. Louis Badaillac dit Laplante died between 16 July 1702 and 04 January 1705.
