LAMBERT-CHAMPAGNE –Lambert comes from the Germanic name 'Landberht', composed of 'land' which means 'country' and 'berht' which means 'illustrious, brilliant'. Champagne is a nickname given to one who comes from a region of the same name in France. Comes from the Latin 'campagna', which means 'a vast flat expanse'. 1) Eustache Lambert was born around 1618 in Boulogne-sur-Mer, Pas-de-Calais, France. Of unknown parentage, he married Marie Laurence, also of unknown parentage, around 1656 in France. From this union were born 3 children. Arriving in the country as a "given of the Jesuits", he left with the missionaries for Huronia, where he remained until 1646. He was subsequently identified as an interpreter with the Jesuits and settled in 1652 in the seigneury of Lauzon. . He returned to France in July 1654 and remained there until his marriage. Back home, he settled in Quebec and remained there until his death on July 6, 1673. 2) Pierre Lambert was baptized on April 29, 1646 in Fourmelot, Normandy. Son of Jacques and Perrette Bachelet, he married on March 4, 1680 in Quebec, Marie Normand born in Quebec in 1658, daughter of Jean and Anna Lelaboureur. They have 7 children. Established in Tilly in 1673, he joined forces with his neighbor to promote their land in common, but this did not last long. In 1681, after his marriage, he owned four acres of land in value. He succeeded by purchase and additional concession (1688) to increase his dwelling. He withdraws money from the inheritance rights of his wife on the death of his parents. He was buried in Tilly on November 25, 1712. 3) Aubin Lambert-Champagne was baptized on June 30, 1632 in Saint-Aubin de Tourouvre, Perche, France. Son of Odoard Lambert and Jacqueline Feillard, he married Élisabeth Aubert, daughter of Michel and Jeanne Aubert, on September 29, 1670 in Quebec. From this union were born 10 children. Arrived in the country around 1662, he settled first in Château-Richer, then in Saint-Augustin. In 1681, he owns 2 cattle and 8 acres of land in value. He moved to Lauzon around 1689 and died in Saint-Nicolas in April 1713.
