Catherine Granger was born about 1655 in the parish of Saint Médard in Vaudoy-en-Brie (arrondissement of Melun, diocese of Meaux), Brie (Champagne), the daughter of Pierre Granger and Marguerite François After her father's death, Catherine left for Canada in 1673 at about age 18, bringing with her goods worth an estimated 200 livres for her dowry.
On 11 September 1673, Catherine married Jean Lépinay at Québec City. She could not sign the marriage contract drawn up 08 September by notary Becquet, but her husband could. Jean was born about 1647 in Nantes, Brittany, the son of Mathieu Lépinay and Françoise Pinson. He was confirmed 21 September 1665 at Québec City. Jean and Catherine settled at Beauport, where son Philippe was baptized 07 September 1674, followed by Marie-Madeleine (about 1676), Catherine (about 1678) and Geneviève (16 February 1681). Sadly, Philippe died before the 1681 census. Marie-Catherine was baptized at Beauport 04 July 1683, followed by Jean-Baptiste (5 October 1684) and Jacques (19 March 1687). Then came Ignace (20 February 1690), Louise-Agnès (02 February, buried 07 November 1692), Marie-Anne (30 June 1694) and Marie- Josèphe (17 February 1697).
Jean Lépinay died 10 January 1727 and was buried the next day at Beauport. Catherine Granger died at Beauport 25 July 1731.
