Suzanne Rocheteau was born 09 April 1642 and baptized four days later in the Protestant church at La Rochelle, Aunis,. the daughter of master tailor Charles Rocheteau and Esther Resneau, who were married 21 December 1623 at La Rochelle (contract notary Chelsea). Her father is the son of cobbler Jacques Rocheteau and Marie Gautreau from the town of Poiré-sur-Vie. He was buried 09 August 1648 at the Protestant church of La Rochelle at the stated age of 47. Suzanne's mother is the daughter of master tailor Zacharie Resneau, who was buried 24 March 1658 at the Protestant church of La Rochelle. Suzanne came to Canada in 1661.

On 22 September 1661, Suzanne married Jean Boutin dit Larose at Château-Richer. No marriage contract has been found for this couple and it is not known if Suzanne could sign her name, though her husband definitely could not. A plowman, Jean was born about 1635 in the parish of Saint-Jacques in Brouage (today: Hiers-Brouage, arrondissement of Rochefort, diocese of Saintes), Saintonge, though his parents' names are unknown. He enlisted to go to Canada on 23 March 1656 at La Rochelle and was confirmed 24 February 1660 at Québec City.

Jean and Suzanne had eight children. Son Jean was born 13 October 1662 at Petit Cap in Beaupré and baptized the next day at Château-Richer. Marguerite was baptized 06 August 1664 at Château-Richer, followed by Étienne (18 September 1666) and Jacques (born at Petit Cap, baptized 10 June 1669, Château-Richer). Angélique was baptized 17 July 1672 at Beaupré, followed by Augustin, who was baptized 27 January 1675 and died a few days after his baptism. Prisque dit Joseph was born about 1676, followed by René-Étienne, who was born about 1681. The 1681 census finds the family at Beaupré.

Suzanne Rocheteau died 01 October 1677 and was buried two days later at Beaupré. Jean Boutin dit Larose died 29 March 1699 at the Hötel-Dieu de Québec.
