Barbé D’Orange was born about 1650 in the parish of Saint-Saturnin in Chartres, Orléanais, the daughter of Pantaléon D’Orange and Jeanne Nepveu. She left for Canada in 1669 at about age 19, bringing with her goods worth an estimated 200 lives for her dowry.

On 06 October 1669, Barbe married Jacques Tardif at Québec City and was given the King's Gift of 50 livres. She could not sign the marriage contract drawn up 28 September by notary Becquet, but her husband could. Jacques was baptized 22 March 1645 in Saint-Cande-le-Vieil in Rouen, Normandy, the son of Pierre Tardif and Barbe Bourguignon. He and Barbe settled at Beauport. Son Étienne was baptized 10 August 1670 at Québec City, followed by Michel on 19 July 1671. Jeanne was baptized at Beauport 06 August 1673, followed by Anne (born about 1675) and Joseph (21 December 1680). Sadly, Étienne died before the 1681 census and Joseph was buried 19 January 1681 at Beauport. Jacques was baptized 08 and buried 24 February 1682 and Pierre, baptized 09 June 1684, was buried 20 January 1685. Marie-Madeleine was baptized 06 January 1686 at Beauport.

Barbe Dorange died 14 September 1717 and was buried the next day at Beauport. Jacques Tardif was buried at Beauport 13 November 1724.
