LEFÈBVRE, LEFÈVRE, LEFAIVRE. — De Vaivre, communes of the dep. Doubs and Haute-Saône. Faivre is a Franche-Comté word designating a metal worker. Franche-Comtois is a dialect of oïl spoken in Franche-Comté in France and in the Jura in Switzerland. Pierre Lefebvre was born around 1616 in Sceaux, archdiocese of Paris. Son of Pierre Lefebvre and Jeanne Cutiloup, he married Jeanne Auneau around 1646. From their union were born 7 children. He was in Trois-Rivières in 1642. In 1648, he was taken prisoner by the Iroquois but was released. In 1656, he settled in Cap-de-la-Madeleine. In 1667, he owned 7 cattle and 84 acres of land. The exact date of his death is unknown but he died shortly after on July 16, 1668.
