Fille à Marier for Elizabeth Trottier-Joseph François Hamelin:

Marie Deligny was born about 1635 in Gaudelay or Gaudelas (diocese of Meaux) in the Brie region of Champagne, the daughter of Robert Deligny and Marie De La Tache or De La Farge. After her father's death, Marie came to Canada in 1655, at about age 20. On 03 November 1655, Marie married Louis Jobidon in Québec City, in the home of Guillaume Thibaut. Though no marriage contract has been found for this couple, it is known that neither spouse could sign their names. Louis was born about 1632 in the diocese of Chartres (possibly in Perche), the son of Jacques Jobidon and Michelle Vrament.

Marie and Louis had 11 children. Daughter Marie was born 16 October 1656 and baptized 18 March 1657 at Québec City followed by Jean (baptized 10 November 1659) and Marguerite (born about 1660 or 1661). Louis Jobidon and Marie Deligny were both confirmed 02 February 1660 at Château-Richer. Son Louis was baptized at Château-Richer 15 January 1663, followed by Catherine, who was baptized 08 February but buried 19 March 1665 in Château-Richer. The losses continued, as daughter Anne, baptized 27 March 1666 at Château-Richer, was buried 28 June 1666 and son Jean died some time before the 1666 census. Geneviève was baptized 27 February 1667, followed by Anne (12 May 1669) and François (born about 1671), who was retarded. Anne dite Marie-Anne was baptized 05 January 1674, followed by a second Catherine, baptized 08 September 1676.

Louis Jobidon died at Château-Richer some time before 19 November 1677, when notary Vachon drew up an inventory of his estate. Later in 1677, Marie married Julien Allard. She could not sign the marriage contract drawn up 19 November by notary Vachon, but her husband could. Julien was born about 1631 in Saint-Mathurin (arrondissement of Les Sables-d'Olonne, diocese of Luçon), Poitou, the son of Sébastien Allard and Jeanne Leon. He was widowed by Anne Agret before coming to Canada in 1665. Julien enlisted with Jean Grignon at La Rochelle at 27 March 1665, at which time he claimed to be from the town of La Flotte on the ile de Ré (arrondissement and diocese of La Rochelle). He was confirmed at Québec City on 24 August 1665 and can be found in the 1667 census at Beaupé, farming for Jean Grignon. Marie and Julien had no children together.

Marie Deligny died 24 December 1696 and was buried the next day at Château-Richer. Julien Allard dit Laverne died 25 January 1706 at Château-Richer, where he was buried the next day.
