Fille du Roi for David

From Gagné:

Anne Thomas was born about 1646 in the parish of Notre-Dame de Vincennes (arrondissement of Nogent-sur-Marne, archdiocese of Paris), Île-de-France, the daughter of Jean Thomas and Madeleine Platon. After her father's death, Anne left for Canada in 1665, at about age 19.

On 22 March 1666, Anne married Claude Jodoin in Montréal. Though no mariage contract has been found, it is known that Anne could not sign her name, but her husband could. A master carpenter, Claude was born about 1641 in Poitiers, Poitou, the son of Bamabé Jodoin and Michelle Dupley. In the 1667 census, he is listed as the servant of the Sulpicians at Montréal. Also in 1667, Claude brought a complaint against the Sieur de La Fredière of the Carignan Regiment, who had sent him off on a long mission and profited from Claude’s absence by sleeping with Anne. After four months’ separation, the couple got back together. Claude blamed his wife’s indiscretions on the gifts and “powerful solicitations” of La Fredière.

Son Claude was baptized 31 January 1667 at Montréal, followed by Jacques, born about 1668. In 1669, the family moved to Contrecoeur, where Marie-Rose was bo 08 January 1671, followed by Thomas (baptized 24 March 1673, Boucherville), Antoine (06 May 1675), Barbe (17 February 1677) and Madeleine (24 September 1678). In 1680, the family settled at Longueuil, where they can be found in the 1681 census. Sadly, Antoine was buried 29 March 1681 at Contrecoeur, Thomas died after the 1681 census and Jacques was buried 05 January 1682. Another Jacques was baptized 08 May 1682 at Boucherville, followed by André on 17 July 1684.

Claude was working as a carpenter at the tannery of the Coteau Saint-Pierre when he was accidentally killed 16 October 1686. Coming back from the woods, Claude was mistaken for a bear by co-worker Nicolas Martin dit Jolicoeur, who shot at the imagined beast, killing Claude. Daughter Louise
was baptized posthumously 04 June 1687 at Montréal.

About 1691, Anne married Pierre Godambert dit Desjardins in either Montréal or Varennes. A soldier, Pierre was born about 1665 in Ville Jésus (arrondissement and diocese of Angoulême), Angoumois, though his parents’ names are unknown. He came to Canada some time after 1680 Pierre and Anne baptized daughter Jeanne 18 July and buried her 25 August 1692 at Montréal. Anne Thomas died 12 April 1724 and was buried the next day at Rivière-des-Prairies. Pierre Godambert dit Desjardins died 23 December 1746.
