Marguerite Lamirault was born about 1645 on the Rue des Poulies in the parish of Saint-Germain-l'Auxerrois in Paris, the daughter of François Lamirault and Jeanne Clos. Her father was coach driver for the Queen. In 1668, Marguerite left for Canada at about age 23, taking with her goods worth an estimated 300 livres for her dowry.

On 26 November 1668, Marguerite married Honoré Martel dit Lamontagne at Québec City. She could not sign the marriage contract drawn up 17 November by Noury Becquet, but her husband could. A sawyer, Honoré was born about 1632 in the parish of Saint-Eustache in Paris, the son of Jean Martel and Marie Duchesne. He arrived in Canada 30 June 1665 as a soldier with the Berthier Company of the Carignan Regiment (detached from the Allier Regiment).

Honoré and Marguerite settled at Québec City, where son Charles was baptized 06 October and buried 28 October 1669. Jean dit Jean-François was baptized 04 January 1671, followed by Joseph-Alphonse (14 May 1672) and Marie-Madeleine (29 July 1674). The family then moved to Neuville, though Marguerite was baptized 30 August 1676 at Québec City, as was Paul on 28 May 1678. Son Honoré was baptized at Neuville 08 February but was buried 18 February 1680, followed by Antoine (08 January 1681) and Isabelle (baptized 26 November, buried 28 November 1682). Anne was baptized 11 November 1683 at Neuville, followed by Jean (15 November 1685), Louis (02 September 1687), Marie-Anne (28 August 1689, Québec City) and Marie-Thérèse (04 September 1691, Québec City).

Marguerite Lamirault died 17 October 1706 at the Hôtel-Dieu de Québec. On 03 November 1707, Honoré married Marie Marchand, but had no children with her. Honoré Martel dit Lamontagne died at Québec City between 28 July 1710 and 03 September 1714.
