Jacquette Michel was born about 1637 in the parish of Sainte-Catherine in La Flotte, Île de Ré (arrondissement and diocese of La Rochelle), Aunis, the daughter of Jacques Michel and Jeanne Dupont. After the deaths of her father and husband Jean Gardin, Jacquette left for Canada in 1668 at about age 31, bringing a dowry of goods estimated at 100 livres.

On 23 October 1668, Jacquette married André Mignier dit Lagacé at Québec City. Neither spouse could sign the mariage contract drawn up 07 October by notary Becquet. André was born about 1640 in Saint-Martin, Île de Ré, the son of Michel Mignier and Catherine Masson. He arrived in Canada 30 June 1665 as a soldier with the Berthier Company of the Carignan Regiment (detached from the Allier Regiment). André and Jacquette settled at Québec City, where son André was baptized 06 October 1669, followed by Marie on 14 October 1671. The family then moved to the Saint-Joseph section of Charlesbourg. Françoise was baptized 29 June 1674 at Québec City, followed by Marie-Anne on 18 January 1677. Marie-Madeleine was baptized at Charlesbourg 24 August 1679, followed by Michel 19 April 1682. Marie had died some time before the 1681 census.

Jacquette Michel died 28 November 1710 and was buried the next day at Rivière-Ouelle. André Mignier dit Lagacé died 21 November 1727 and was buried the next day at La Pocatière.
