Miss Helen Oakley, daughter of John Oakley of 292 Grove St. Providence, was married to Philip Pevin, son of Mrs. Melvina and the late Philip Pevin of Juniper lane, in a holiday ceremony Friday morning at 9 AM in St Casmire’s Church, Providence. the Rev John Vait Kunos officiated.
The bride wore a pink dress with matching accessories and carried an orchid. Mr and Mrs Anthony Pinhero, the groom’s sister and brother-in-law attended the couple. Mrs Pinhero’s dress was of Dior blue with matching accessories.
The reception was held at the Harriet Bradford Inn, after which the couple left on a wedding trip to Florida. They will live at Grove St in Providence.

Philip Morris Pevin Jr., 70, of 292 Grove St., a bus driver for the Senior Citizens Transportation for the past four years, died Friday at Miriam Hospital after a three-month illness. He was the husband of Helen D. (Okolowich) Pevin.

Born in Bristol, a son of the late Philip M. and Melina (Simmons) Pevin, he lived in Providence for 26 years.

Mr. Pevin was a truck driver for 40 years and last worked for the former Hemingway Trucking Co., East Providence. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. He was a member of the Teamsters Union, Local 251. He was a World War II Army veteran.

Besides his wife he leaves three sisters, Mrs. Edith Sylvia of Barrington, Mrs. Margaret Paiva of Naugatuck, Conn., Mrs. Florence Pinhero of Bristol, and two brothers, Wilfred Pevin of Providence and Fred Pevin of Mirimar, Fla.

A military funeral will be held Tuesday at 8 a.m. from the Prata Home, 1488 Westminster St., with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, Broadway, at 10. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston.
