1974 -May 11, received an appreciation award from the Town of Bristol, "Has rendered 50 years of valuable and distinguished service and as a charter member to the Ever-Ready Engine and Hose Co., No. 2, and to the Town of Bristol, Rhode Island, and this certificate is issued in recognition thereof by the Town Council of Bristol, Rhode Island, on behalf of it's citizens and all fire comrades."
Fred served 2 terms as Bristol Fire Chief, was on the town council fire
commission. He worked as a stone mason for 44 years at the former U.S. Rubber Co. plant, which became the Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corp. plant in Bristol until his retirement in 1958. he was also a member of the Pius X Assembly, Forth Degree, Knights of Columbus in Riverside, RI.
Died in St. Joseph's Hospital, Providence, RI, services were at St. Mary's Church, and buried in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bristol RI. (Ref Map G1) He had 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Fred J Guevremont, of 8 Robin Dr, a former fire chief, town councilman, and fire commissioner in this town, died yesterday in St Joseph's Hospital after an illness of four days.The husband of the late Rose (Preble) Guevremont, whose first wife was the late Mary Jane (Beauchaine) Guevremont, he was 84 years old.
Born here on July 15, 1893, a son of the late Remi and Anna (Hamel) Guevremont, he served two terms as Bristol's Fire Chief, from 1939 to 1941, and from 1947 to 1949 During his second term, the town's first rescue squad was formed in 1948 Previous to his first term, he also served as
assistant fire chief for 10 years.
Mr Guevremont served as a Republican town councilman in this town from 1951 to 1953. and also served as fire commissioner during those years Until his retirement 20 years ago, he worked as a stonemason at the US Rubber Co, formerly located here, for 44 years.
He was a past president of the Rhode Island State Firemen's League, a member of the Fire Chiefs' Club of the Everready Volunteer Fire Co in this town He was also a member of Pius X Assembly, Fourth ' Degree, Knights of Columbus, in Riverside.
Surviving is a son. William Guevremont, with whom he lived, two daughters. Mrs Lovina Ferreira of this town and Mrs Margaret Ferriera of Naugatuck, Conn, a brother, Arthur Guevremont of this town; 10 grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren.
His funeral will be held tomorrow at 9 am. from the Connery-Smith Funeral Home, 57 Burton St. and a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 am in St Mary's Church Burial will be in St Mary's Cemetery.
