KEHOE, Helen Noren - Age 93, died peacefully on May 15, 2015, in Strait Richmond Hospital. Mom was born in Rocky Bay August 8, 1921, the daughter of Thomas Bowen and Mary Eva (Mae) Hearn. She left Rocky Bay at a young age to work in Soldiers Cove and Sydney before enlisting in the Royal Canadian Air Force, where she served until the end of the Second World War. After
returning to Rocky Bay, she married her beloved Howard and together they raised 14 children who were followed by 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mom became fiercely independent following Dad's passing in 1974, earning her driver's license at the age of 52 and continuing to drive into her 90's. She insisted in living in her own home, on her own
terms and did so until four days before her passing with the help of her sidekicks, Heather and Brandie, to whom the family will forever be grateful for the kindness and compassion they showed Mom. Besides her husband Howard,
Helen was predeceased by her daughter, Patricia in 2001 and grandson, Nathan in 2011. She is also survived by her brother, William 'Billy' Bowen of Rocky Bay. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 20 from 6-9 p.m. in IML Funeral Home, 3242 Hwy. 320, D'Escousse (former St. Hyacinth Catholic Church). A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May
21 in Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, Arichat. Burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Hyacinth's Cemetery Fund or Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society.
