The following is an excerpt from Mr. White's paper "The Founders of Arichat Parish", which is translated from its original French: 14) Charles Poirier, son of 30) Charles Poirier and Marguerite Vigneau, born at Port Toulouse in 1750, first married about 1780 to Rose McDonald, daughter of Thomas McDonald and Marie Hill, and again to Dorothee Petitpas. Charles and Rose had a large family in D'Escousse, where part of the parish carries their family name (Poirierville).
