JOSEPH R. FERREIRA, 43, of 412 Willett Ave., Riverside, a laboratory technician for the Rhode Island Medical Examiner's Office for the past six years, died Sunday at Kent County Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Ivone (Dutra) Ferreira.
Born in Fall River, Mass., a son of Joseph Ferreira of Bristol, and the late M. Lovina (Guevremont) Ferreira, he moved from Bristol to East Providence 13 years ago.
For 17 years, Mr. Ferreira was an attendant at the former Rhode Island General Hospital, Cranston. He was a former secretary and steward of Local 1350, Council 94, AFSCME. He was a 1976 graduate of the New England Institute of Applied Sciences, Boston.
Besides his wife and father he leaves a son, Russell J. Ferreira; a daughter, Marsha N. Ferreira, both of Riverside, and two sisters, Jane Sclama of Warwick, and Lovina Pivin of Phoenix, Ariz.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at 9 a.m. from the Smith-Mason Funeral Home, 398 Willett Ave., Riverside, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
